What is Hypnosis?
Many assume that hypnosis is just an external act that enables control of your mind, which is why some are fearful of the treatment. Hypnosis is actually a normal state of mind that we all possess individually. Your subconscious mind has amazing capabilities in shaping who you are as an individual, and hypnosis allows direct access to this.
When your mind is fully focused during an activity such as watching a film (notice how you rarely recognise what is going on around you), or you are close to falling asleep, you will experience feelings of relaxation associated with hypnosis.
What is the Subconscious mind?
All of our feelings and deep-rooted emotions are stored neatly within our subconscious. This part of our brain triggers behaviour such as our reactions, and our understanding of a situation. Our subconscious is vital due to its automatic function that is responsible for regulating our breathing, blood circulation, and the physical process of healing.
Research suggests that only 10% of our brain capacity has the capability to think consciously. This means that a huge 90% is left unknown as part of the subconscious mind.
What is Hypnotherapy?
For thousands of years, hypnotherapy has been treating a wide spectrum of issues. Hypnotherapy applies to the process of therapy in itself, which takes place whilst you are experiencing hypnosis.
Are there any risks or side effects?
No, Hypnotherapy is 100% safe. The experience itself is very calming and peaceful.
What does Hypnosis feel like?
The great thing about hypnosis is that you won’t feel a thing! The experience is similar to daydreaming – all you have to do is close your eyes and relax. You will still be aware of what is taking place.
Will I lose control?
This is actually a common misconception that many people have about hypnotherapy treatment. Often those same people are surprised to find that during hypnosis, you actually remain completely aware of everything that is taking place! You will remember everything, and your hypnotist cannot make you say or do anything beyond your control.
Why is Hypnotherapy useful?
Hypnotherapy successfully treats problems such as weight control, phobias, stress and anxiety, self-esteem and self-confidence, pain management, and insomnia. Due to the method of therapy, clients experience long-lasting effects that change their entire lives in a positive way.
How many sessions would I need?
Clients would usually require between three and five sessions. These tend to last an hour, and take place around once a week.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
As long as the client recognises that they remain in control at all times, then hypnosis will be effective. The only thing that would hinder hypnosis is if the client had a fear of losing control during the therapy.
